Helping disadvantaged & vulnerable youth Around Australia

Every Aussie Child Deserves an education

Children who slip through the cracks of education are more likely to leave school early and fall into an unskilled workforce and live on the verge of or under the poverty line in the future.

We believe Change Begins at Home. This is why The Youth Foundation is proudly Australian based and we are here to support our local community to improve the future for all Australians.
Our Focus

Helping disadvantaged & at risk Aussie youth Is our #1 Priority

The Youth Foundation is an independent charity helping Australia’s most vulnerable youth to gain unconditional access to educational resources to better their future and increase their probability of attending higher education and finding sustainable employment in later life.

As it stands, an estimated 7.3 million Australians (44%) currently don’t have the literacy skills necessary to effectively handle gainful employment with that number set to rise in the future should we continue on unaddressed.

While that’s shocking, according to studies only 60% of children who come from a disadvantaged background will complete high school and only 16.2% will attend higher education compared to 90% of year 12 graduates and 83.7% of higher education students from more advantaged backgrounds respectively.

We believe that every child deserves the right to a proper education regardless of their circumstances or location in Australia.

Our mission is to empower Australia’s youth to fall in love with education and give them access to resources they wouldn’t otherwise be able to attain by themselves. By doing so, this will create a lifetime of good learning habits that will see them have choices and break the perpetuated generational cycle of poverty within their family and communities throughout Australia.

What industry Professionals
Are saying about our work

Literacy underpins the way we understand the world, from conversations about what we see to the written language in a book. These understandings help set us up for success, whatever path it is we choose to go down. Currently, Literacy achievements are not the same for all children especially those in remote areas or from disadvantaged backgrounds. The Youth Foundation aims to help disadvantaged and vulnerable children in Australia by providing them with access to quality literature regardless of their economic or geographical position. What this means for children is access to quality books that inspire conversation, develop interests and knowledge and provide opportunity to build on Literacy skills in the home and at school. What the Youth Foundation are doing is providing children with opportunity without limitations and it all starts in the pages of a book
